Call costs are changing

Working on the phone

We know there are many different types of numbers, and sometimes people aren’t sure which ones are free and which ones aren’t. Don’t get stung by expensive numbers, take a look at our guide to numbers and costs below.

Please note these prices are indicative only and should not be used as definitive list of call charges.

Numbers that start with 0800 and 0808

These are called Freephone numbers, commonly used for businesses, charities, government services and helplines.

Calls to these numbers are completely free of charge from landlines and mobile phones. If you are calling from a business phone however, it could be worth checking with your provider whether there’s a charge to call these numbers.

Numbers that start with 084 or 0847

These numbers are often used for sales or enquiry lines. There is a cost applied to these numbers and they vary largely. These numbers all have an access charge and a service charge, which is set by the organisation you’re calling.

The service charge must be clearly displayed when advertised or promoted and the access charge will vary depending on your phone company. You can get in touch with us for more information.

If you’d like to know more about your business numbers, and charges for calling other numbers, our team would be happy to help provide more information.
